Dave was born in Roanoke, VA. He grew up in Galax,
VA. His wife, Dawn, works in administration for the Virginia Community
College System. He pastored churches 21 1/2 years in North Carolina and 16
years in Virginia. He is a 1968 graduate of Carson-Newman College with a
degree in English with minors in German and history. He is 1972 graduate of
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has also
studied at Cumberland County Hospital System, Furman University, Wake Forest
University, Campbell University, and Center for Congregational Health. He is
a certified intentional interim minister. Between interim assignments, he
attends High Hills Baptist Church in Jarratt, VA.
Dave enjoys singing in choral groups and quartets. He has been a
member of Emporia/Greensville Community Choir, Highland Camerata, and other
community groups. He is currently a percussionist for an "old country" band
called the Rattlers who play in retirement centers and at community events
and street festivals. He has been an amateur radio operator for over
fifty years and love conversing in morse code. He enjoys photography and
fishing.
Dave is currently employed as a 911 communications officer handling police,
fire, EMS calls, and dispatching. He is certified as an emergency dispatcher
and in National Criminal Information Network operations.
