WATONGA INDIAN BAPTIST CHURCH 2005

Watonga Indian Baptist Church had a special Vacation Bible School this year. Originally we had planned to have a VBS with help from a church in Missouri. Due to a cancellation, however, the church did not come to help us. So we decided to plan and execute our own VBS without outside help. Our membership developed a plan and a theme based on Cheyenne hymns. Several of our members volunteered to help with the project.

This was the first VBS ever planned and executed by our own members. Helpers put together a flyer and posters in preparation for the VBS. The flyer and posters were placed in strategic locations around Watonga. Our theme was from the hymn, "Esenehane Jesus" ("Our Friend Jesus"). Indeed, Jesus is our friend. Therefore we gladly shared that message with Indian children in our town. In our opinion, the 2005 VBS was a smashing success. We thank God for the inspiration to attempt something that had never been attempted in the memory of our current members.
